Peter Eastway is a Grand Master of Photography, the editor of Better Photography magazine in Australia, and the author of the Lonely Planet's Guide to Landscape Photography. In between issues of Better Photography, he travels the world exhibiting, lecturing, taking and judging photographs.

When Peter started photography at school, all he would photograph was surfing and his friends riding waves. His first win in a schools' competition was of a mate surfing at South Narrabeen, very close to where he now lives. However, once bitten by the photography bug, Peter's subject matter expanded to practically all types of photography, from studio to location, landscape to portrait, documentary to nature. As the editor of a photography magazine, he has met and interviewed many of the world's best photographers and been exposed to a wide range of photographic styles and disciplines.

Over the last ten years or so, Peter has won many photography awards, including the Australian Professional Photographer of the Year Award twice, and so far in 2007 he has picked up half a dozen first, second and highly commended professional awards in Australia, Italy, the UK and USA. As a judge, he believes it's important to also enter competitions because only by competing can you really appreciate the effort that goes into preparing and entering your work.
