Panasonic is set to launch the world's lightest 10,000 lumen projectors[i] - with two new models designed for large venues that offer a powerful solution for staging companies and e-cinema, combining the most compact design in their class with high reliability and outstanding imaging. | | PT-DW10000 Panasonic DLP projector |
Michelle Aiken, Product Manager, PDP/Projector, Business Systems Group, Panasonic, said: "These new large venue projectors are very compact and light compared to other models in their class. At 32kg, they offer greater versatility in installation while also delivering the features to give staging companies and large venues the reliability they need, including liquid cooling and a four-lamp system to ensure the show will always go on. The projectors are a competitively priced offering that is outstanding for large venues and events - including cinema complexes, conference centres, indoor entertainment/sporting arenas, and concert halls. Staging companies will find them ideal for special evening events such as music or film festivals. Michelle Aiken added: "In line with key market trends, our PT-DW10000E projector offers Full High Definition (Full HD) resolution (1920x1080p), and is true widescreen. Both new models are ideal for the venue projector and e-cinema markets, where growth is predicted in 2007." The units are designed for all-round ease of maintenance, so lens, lamp and filter removal and replacement can easily be carried out. The optical block is sealed to minimise the effect of dust, and the dust filter includes an automatic electrostatic cleaning robot, so manual removal and cleaning is only required every 2,000 hours. Both projectors are sold without lenses, allowing customers to select the optional lens they require for their specific performance requirements. For further convenience, it is possible to use the same lenses and optical input modules as the DW7000 and D7700 Series. The lenses can be changed in minutes using a release system on the front housing. Outstanding reliability and flexibility The projectors have a number of features designed to ensure uninterrupted, trouble-free operation and easy maintenance. Panasonic's liquid-cooling system directly cools the DLP chips for outstanding performance in temperatures up to 45°C. The automatic cleaning robot can be set to clean the dust filter at the same time each day - for example in a cinema it could be set to operate at the end of the day's screenings. The powerful four-lamp system (4x 250-watt UHM lamps) delivers 10,000 lumens brightness. Lamps are automatically switched if one burns out, allowing continuous operation for extended periods, and the lamp system can be operated in any configuration from one to all four lamps at a time. The lamps are easily accessible at the rear of the unit, so replacement can be carried out without moving the projector from where it is installed. The projectors have by far the quietest operation in their class at 43 decibels, a huge advantage in cinemas and other venues running both audio and images. LAN operation When a projector is connected to a wired LAN, a user can operate it remotely, check its status using a web browser on a networked PC, and the projector can send e-mail messages to notify a user when the unit's operating condition changes or a lamp needs replacing. The wired LAN connection helps reduce support costs and minimises downtime. Excellent image quality The projectors deliver breathtaking image performance, with sharp, bright, true-to-life images up to 600 inches diagonal, with a maximum projection distance of 183.9 metres. 10,000 lumens brightness is supported by Panasonic imaging technology such as 'Dynamic Iris', designed to produce rich blacks and support an outstanding contrast ratio of up to 5000:1. 3D colour management provides bright, vivid images and allows the user to adjust individual colours in a scene without affecting neighbouring colours. In addition, 10-bit picture processing with 1024 steps ensures a true-to-life image from Full HD sources. Other features For connection flexibility, the projectors offer a full array of inputs including Video, S-Video, Component/RGB, PC and DVI. The projectors also allow for optional input boards to be connected including SDI and HD-SDI. Both projectors weigh 32kg without lens and measure 578W x 320H x 643D (mm). oOo RELEASED BY PANASONIC AUSTRALIA DLP technology delivers outstanding image resolution. In 3-chip systems with DLP technology - considered among the world's most advanced projector engines - a Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) chip is allocated to each of the red, green and blue signals. This gives systems with DLP technology superior light utilisation for high brightness, digital processing for low noise and linear white balance, extended device life for minimal image degradation, and a quick response that eliminates afterimages.
